Working Together for Harvest

Oct 1 2024

A Collaborative Effort Across Our Schools.

As autumn settles in, The Keys Academy Trust schools are coming together in the spirit of generosity and collaboration to serve our local communities through a joint Harvest collection. This year, each school has organised special events and partnered with local charities to make a meaningful impact on those in need.

Our shared goal is to contribute to foodbanks, shelters, and community support organisations, ensuring that essential resources reach those who need them most. Here is a look at the charities our schools are supporting:

  • St Nicholas C of E Primary School is lending its support to Alana House, an organisation dedicated to empowering women and families in Reading.
  • Earley St Peter’s C of E Primary School are collecting for the Churches in Reading Drop in Centre charity. All donations received before Tuesday 8 October will be blessed in church during their Harvest Festival church service.
  • St Michael’s C of E Primary School, St Sebastian's C of E Primary School and Uplands Primary School and Nursery and are all supporting Crowthorne Foodbank, continuing its long-standing support for local families.
  • Alder Grove C of E Primary School and Sonning C of E Primary School are both supporting ReadiFood, a foodbank that serves Reading’s vulnerable communities. Their efforts are helping to alleviate food insecurity in the area.
  • The Coombes C of E Primary School, St Cecilia’s C of E Primary School, Polehampton C of E Infant School and Polehampton C of E Junior School are all partnering with the Wokingham Foodbank, contributing much-needed supplies to this important organisation, so as they can sustain its vital services.
  • Crazies Hill C of E Primary School will be gathering donations for the Woodley Foodbank, aiding local families facing difficult times.

In addition, Uplands Primary and Nursery School are also hosting a special afternoon tea for local community centre users and vulnerable residents in Sandhurst. It’s a wonderful way to bring people together during this season of giving.

This united effort not only helps alleviate immediate needs, but also fosters a sense of community and shared responsibility. We are immensely proud of how each of our schools are embracing the Harvest spirit this year, ensuring that every contribution—whether big or small—makes a difference.

We invite everyone in our community to participate in these events, whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word. Together, we can ensure that this Harvest season brings hope, support, and kindness to those who need it most.
